How many years have you been in business in NYC?
15 years
How did you get your start and what was your initial inspiration?
I’m a board-certified Physician Assistant. I have been practicing Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Medicine for 15 years. I have had the honor of working alongside some of the top cosmetic dermatologists and plastic surgeons in New York City and at a critical juncture in my life, I wanted to create an environment and identity that was all my own as such Park Avenue Skin Solutions was born in 2009. We started out on Park Avenue, given the practice’s namesake, but it was over a year and a half ago that I wanted to venture into new waters when I decided to move my practice downtown as it was where most of my life is. I took a bold leap to reverse engineer my work life into my personal life. As such, our flagship location and practice opened in June 2016 in the heart of Tribeca. We’d like to think of ourselves as a lifestyle medicine brand devoted to beauty and wellbeing inside and out. In fact, we’ve got some exciting news ahead as we venture into wellness and longevity medicine as a part of our next pivot and area of growth in our practice. We just launched Tribeca Wellness Collective, a concierge medical practice devoted to personalized wellness and disease prevention.
What do you feel differentiates you from others in your field?
I’ve always practiced a “less is more” approach to aging, and guiding my patients toward a skin journey that is centered around graceful aging and a more natural aesthetic look. Our whole approach is that skin wellbeing starts from within and when I started Park Avenue Skin Solutions, I wanted to create an environment where patients can be both comfortable and vulnerable as I endeavor to help them on their skin journey. We all possess a bit of self-hate and are a bit too critical of ourselves but as I watch my patients go through their journey, I help them dispel these notions and appreciate the beauty that we all possess both inside and out and aging gracefully into the next stage of their life. I always tell them it gets better with time and I truly believe and feel that for myself. I believe I tend to attract patients who share the same ethos. Like attracts like! What do you feel gives you longevity in this big city with so many options? Building relationships and creating a level trust and white glove service There is huge trust factor when working with patients when they feel vulnerable. This level of comfort and trust that our patients leave with is what we believe sets us apart. I never take a “one size fits all” approach to any patient. I take a customized, hybrid approach to satisfy certain short and long term goals that i identify with each patient. In an industry that is flooded with new products and procedures, staying relevant with cutting edge technology and expanding my services with a multifaceted team has definitely given me longevity in this big city.
How do you positively impact your clientele?
Keeping it real and helping my patient's find beauty in the aging process. All women are delicately interconnected and I want them to feel like they are part of a community, part of a beauty and health movement and on a retreat when visiting Park Avenue Skin Solutions. Most importantly I wanted them to feel at home in our space. The vibe is clinical zen with splashes of glam; it is quintessentially defined by our goal to bring uptown refinement with a downtown edge.
What is your favorite part of your job?
Connecting with women, leading through empowerment and guiding my patient's towards self realization.
What is your favorite secret NYC spot?
Momofuku KO
How do you benefit mamas?
I offer an experience that feels like a retreat when being treated at Park Avenue Skin Solutions. Whether getting with a B12 shot or Botox injections, my patient's all walk out more relaxed, balanced and with a smile on their face.
What is the most memorable feedback a client has given you?
A patient called me Michelangela instead of Michelangelo...although my work is technical, it's the artistry of what I do that sets me apart.
Pay it forward and name your top colleagues in the same field or related field:
Dr. Mary Sue Brady at Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center, my mentor and boss prior to going back to graduate school
